Kick off the Holiday with the Cowboy Canned Food Convoy & a Drive-up & Donate Event
Cowboy Canned Food Convoy
On Saturday, Nov 21, the Redwood Unit of the Backcountry Horsemen of California in partnership with Food for People, the Food Bank for Humboldt County, will kick off the 28th annual Holiday Food & Fund Drive in true cowboy fashion. Come rain or shine, the Redwood Unit will deliver non-perishable food donations via pack train to Food for People.
The Cowboy Canned Food Convoy will begin at noon at the Eureka Boardwalk parking lot, at the foot of D Street, and will then parade through Old Town before returning to unload their haul to Food for People staff and volunteers. Representatives from the Redwood Unit of the Backcountry Horsemen of California and Food for People will be available for interviews after the convoy reaches its destination.
Drive-up & Donate
If delivering food donations via horseback is not a viable option, those wanting to donate food can also swing by Food for People’s Eureka Pantry (2112 Broadway St) the same day (Nov 21) anytime between from 10am-2pm. No need to leave the car, just Drive-up, Pop your Trunk, and Donate!

Make a bigger impact - donate funds. With our wholesale buying power Food for People can take the money you would use to buy ONE bag of groceries and can turn it into THREE and help significantly more people.
This holiday season you can host a Virtual Food Drive to help those in need. This is especially helpful this year as Food for People prepares for the demolition and rebuild of their main facility on 14th St. following the extensive damage caused by the sewer inundation of February 28th. We have limited leased space available to store donated foods long term but you can help them navigate space constraints by donating funds to purchase food items as needed and as space is available.
