Hunger Action Month

Take Action against Hunger

Join us for Hunger Action Month to make an impact on local hunger.

In Humboldt County, hunger is a daily experience for many people. According to the California Center for Rural Policy’s Humboldt County Community Food Assessment, more than 31% of Humboldt County adults experience food insecurity, which jumps to more than 37% in households with children. Most live on fixed incomes or survive paycheck to paycheck.

To raise awareness about this huge national and local issue, Food for People is asking for your help to get involved and make an impact for Hunger Action Month. Whether it’s by advocating, giving, volunteering, educating others, or taking action, you can find a way to make a difference!

Hunger Action Month is a time when people all over the country stand together with Feeding America and the nationwide network of food banks to fight hunger. It’s a month to spread the word, take action on the hunger crisis, and dedicate ourselves to a solution.

Will you take a stand and share your voice for the 30 Ways in 30 Days campaign? This September, we're offering 30 actions you can take to contribute to our fight against hunger. Our "30 Ways in 30 Days" calendar has ideas for learning, teaching, or taking action on hunger for every day of the month.
